November 16 Dubble Bounce Tracklist- CJSW 909 FM

(Futurism; reminds me a bit of the Dubble Bounce horse on acid sans chiquita )

Kicking things off with some future Dancehall styles, brand new rididms in the mix from Harmonic 313 and Dubbel Dutch. Dipped into some great moombahton beats (including this FREE JAM from Top Billin) before heading into housier territory. Really liking this new project from Vessel, now going under the moniker Panther Modern, just low slung funky slo-mo thunking house goodness. Towards the end of the set we got into serious futurism, listening to the sounds of 2112 from Rule of Eight and Untold so we could give a proper context to drop Wax Romeo’s “No Flipping” which right now has to be up there with my favourite tracks of ALL of 2012 !

Rinsed things out at the end with some future bass/ tech/ trap jams. Speaking of Rinsing, y’all should tune in next week to hear a guest set from DJ’s Sonny Chiba and Remy Gnarcotics who are running the new club night Body Workat Habitat. I’ll also be spinning at Habitat on Wednesday November 28^th, and will be dropping SERIOUS bass heat, if you’ve been digging the past couple of shows definitely check this one out.

November 2 Dubble Bounce Track List- CJSW 90.9 FM

Tons of fantastic new music coming out in the last while! Firstly have to give a huge shout out to Calgary's own Wax Romeo who has put out an amzingly deep and diverse debut album called Heavenz to Murgatroyd.  Heavily influnced by techno but incorporating elements of a multitude of dance sub-genre's from the deepest and and most dangerous dancefloor sounds. You can pick it up HERE.  We will definitely be hearing more off the album in the coming weeks.

Started the mix off with a diverse range of downtempo bass heavy beats. Definitely check out the re-release of Brazlian masters Azymuth's self-titled album that comes with a remix package from some massive names like Penut Butter Wolf, Recloose and Harmonic 313. We dropped the Harmonic mix, but you should check the whole album out to get schooled on classic Brazilian funk.

Got into some deep mid-tempo house including brand new material from Shlohmo and LOL Boys. It seems that this will be the last we hear from that amazing production duo as they have chosen to part ways. Couldn't forget to mention Werkha's great new EP Cube and Puzzle, dropped two jams from different ends of the spectrum, starting with beats and working this spacey house jam into my uptempo set near the end of the show:

Back in the mix after a little break, rinsing through a ton of new music today. Really digging the new Om Unit EP Aeolian deep heavy grooves as always from those dudes! Threw a little acapella over top for that is the spice! Got into some real slow spaced out house before taking up the tempo incrementally over the hour in a thick deep house vein. Love love love the piano riffs used on LOL boys remix of Lil Wayne and in a similar style this deep Behling track (of Behling and Simpson) works the keys to killer effect. This is my jam of jams right now!:

For the May 18th Edition of the Dubble Bounce we got into some hip-hop/ beat work to start things off and then dropped into an extended Afrobeat / Afro Disco set. Tons of fantastic Afro disco stuff being re-released right now by the likes of Soundway and Sofrito Records. Check them out for sure. This new track edited by Daphni (AKA Caribou) is right now my favorite track this year. Massive soulful, driving afro-stomper that he dubs out like mad as you sink deeper and deeper into the groove, essential:

May 4 Dubble Bounce Track List- CJSW 90.9 FM

Adam Yauch -August 5, 1964 – May 4, 2012. Truly a sad day to see such an incredible creative force pass away. Beastie Boys were hugely influential in my introduction to hip-hop that started the mad musical journey I'm on today. Started with a small selection of Beastie tracks, original and remixed.

Played both tracks off Justin Martin's new single Ghetto's and Gardens which is soon to be released on his new album. So amazing! This music just makes me want to mix with it all night, great beats, smart melodies and fat bouncing bass. Another couple tracks from the album were released today, expect to hear them everywhere soon!





Rinsed things out at the end of the show with some killer new bass tracks in a tech/house style. I'm a huge fan of the Moveltraxx label. You should check their latest compilation Movelt Posse 5 if you're into dancing, massive club tracks and or forward leaning bass music.

April 27 Dubble Bounce CJSW 90.9 FM Track List

A cool Friday in Calgary starting things off on a future soul tip, playing some slowed down screwed R'n'B. Played a cut off the new Moombah Fiesta 12" that has too be my favorite version of Fela Kuti's "Water No Get Enemy" ever, and there have been some killer remix's of this classic:




The excellent future dub/ reggae /dancehall sound-system Jahtari just put out a wicked new compilation of tunes called Jahtarian Dubbers 3. We heard two cuts off it tonight from Ranking Levy (dig the killer jam above!) and the Jahtari Riddim Force themselves. Ran through a lot of bass heavy hip-hop tonight before ending things off with some banging jams including the debut cut from Sleepin' Giantz. This is a new collaboration / super group effort from UK OG badman artists: Zed Bias, Rodney P and Fallacy. Can't wait to hear more from this crew soon. February 24- Dubble Bounce CJSW 90.9 FM

Word Up. Honest John's recently released the full 1979 LP of London afro-colombian group Steel 'an Skin called "Reggae is Here Once Again". I played the title track and if you agree that was one of the sweetest tropical funky tunes you've ever heard then I highly recommend picking up this killer full length.
Gotta give big ups to Audit on the first track of the show, heard this killer steel drum workout during his set at vicious circle last Sunday put on by Fat Drop Sundays. It was a wicked night, definitely check Fat Drop out  next time. As for the dubble bounce, we started things off deep and dubby working through lots of string arrangements and into some deep house. The show ended on a serious tropical bass note hearing tracks from Bounce favorite Uproot Andy and Shangaan Electro.

This Friday we will have Calgary's own Wax Romeo on the show playing a live set to celebrate the release of his new EP "I Hope I Fall Down the Stairs"  . Tune In for sure!

January 13 Dubble Bounce Track List- CJSW 90.9 FM

Word Word, Steady bass grooves all night starting with some classic reggae mixed with one of my favorite 2011 releases- Solo Banton- Music Addict EP. Then we cruize through some slo-mo DUB disco and into some super fresh Moombahton. If y'all haven't heard Sol Selecta's dropped their latest FREE EP of killer Moombah jams a couple of weeks ago, tonight we heard three of my favorites. Each track on the EP will have you bouncin, check it HERE. Wicked to hear the latest remix of our own Edmonton Boy Cadence Weapon's track Roll With The Winners cut to Moombah Hypeness by The Mane Thing.

The Dec 16th show featured a ton of UK Garage Tracks. British dance music is a a huge influence for me and I love to dig deep to find those UK garage bass jems. Mixed the old in with a bunch of new tracks including Author's (aka J. Sparrow) "Fix" off his Self-Titled Debut on Tectonic, one of the best albums this year for sure. Big ups to Canadian Badman Mat the Alien for his excellent remix of DJ Shadow's latest "Sad and Lonely".
